One rootkit preventing internet access to the Windows Update server. I fixed this using <a href=\"http:\/\/support.kaspersky.com\/viruses\/solutions?qid=208280684\" target=\"_blank\">TDSSKILLER<\/a><\/p>\n<p>After this I could at least visit <a href=\"http:\/\/update.microsoft.com\">http:\/\/update.microsoft.com<\/a> but received a 0x8024D007 error.<br \/>\nTo fix this:<\/p>\n<p>1) Open the registry (start\/run\/regedit) and browse to <em>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\services\\wuauserv<\/em><\/p>\n<p>2) Right click <strong>wuauserv<\/strong> in the left pane and select &#8220;Permissions&#8221; make sure you have:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; System at FULL CONTROL<br \/>\n&#8211; Administrators at FULL CONTROL<\/p>\n<p>(if you mis these entries you can add them using the <strong>add<\/strong> button).<\/p>\n<p>3) Now using the same registy editor browse to:<br \/>\n<em>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\Svchost <\/em><\/p>\n<p>4) Right click <strong>Svchost<\/strong><em> <\/em>in the left pane and select &#8220;Permissions&#8221; make sure you have:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; System at FULL CONTROL<br \/>\n&#8211; Administrators at FULL CONTROL<\/p>\n<p>Close the registry editor<\/p>\n<p>5) Download the latest Windows Update Client using <a href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/949104\" target=\"_blank\">this link<\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Leave me a quick reply if it helped you, good luck!<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been asked to fix a computer that seemed to have a lot virusses.
